In this special episode of the Endurance Planet podcast, Dr. Phil Maffetone and six-time Ironman Triathlon champ Mark Allen join host Tawnee Prazak Gibson for a insightful discussion about the MAF Method. Phil started coaching Mark in the 1980s, and the pair recall how they used the training methods to adapt Mark’s physiology to go faster at a lower heart rate. He used the MAF principles for 13 of his 15 years as a professional triathlete. In addition to his Ironman feats, Mark also holds the record for the longest winning streak in the history of triathlon at 21 professional races. To this day Mark still uses MAF to stay fit and healthy at the age of 61 while many of his former rivals no longer work out and have had major injuries and even surgeries. Mark now uses the MAF Method with athletes in his coaching business. The pair also discuss MAF for the aging enthusiast and how to adjust the MAF 180 Formula to meet your needs for longevity as an athlete. Sit back and tune in — you don’t want to miss this one!
